Positive thinking is a major factor in success. So instead of mulling over things that didn’t go quite right, remind yourself of things that did.
On a hot day, are you more likely to wear a white shirt or black shirt outside? If you answered white, that means you know, as a lighter color, white helps to reflect more of the sun’s heat away from your body. The same is true for shingles. If you live in a region that gets extremely hot weather, your roof will benefit from light-colored shingles, which help to reflect heat and damaging UV rays and prevent thermal shock (caused by rapid temperature fluctuations) — elements that can prematurely degrade asphalt shingles. Because they reflect more heat, lighter-colored shingles can keep a roof surface up to 20 degrees cooler than those with black or dark-colored shingles. And when your roof is cooler, your air conditioning system doesn’t have to work as hard, which means you can also save on cooling costs.
